Après une nuit assez reposante dans la petite cabine chauffée, on repart vers l'est toujours sur la 17. La nuit aurait été plus récupératrice si cela n'avait pas été du travail de construction routière qui a cessé entre minuit et 6h. L'autoroute aura 4 voies pendant plusieurs km à l'est de Thunder Bay bientôt.
L'accotement constant ne reprend qu'après plusieurs km... Pas avant 30-40 km. Belle journée ni trop froide ni trop chaude. Heureusement qu'il y a de bonnes rangées d'arbres pour bloquer le vent qui vient surtout de côté. Les montées sont plus longues, mais pas aussi abruptes que celles devant nous, entre Nipigon et Sault Ste.Marie.
Nous arrivons à Nipigon vers 15h45 après avoir passé le dernier camping annoncé à l'ouest de la ville. Nous arrêtons à l'épicerie et rencontrons le monsieur de la municipalité qui nous avait indiqué le chemin pour s'y rendre quelques minutes plus tôt. Il nous donne toutes les infos pour le camping de la marina... Il est gratuit, car les douches ne sont pas encore ouvertes. Il y a un abri pour cuisiner. Parfait, car le ciel se couvre. La pluie ne tombera que sur l'heure du souper.
Arrivés au camping, nous parlons avec un autre monsieur très sympathique. Avant de repartir, il se présente comme étant le maire du village. Nous avons rencontré son fils à l'épicerie.
En soirée, nous avons le droit à toutes les histoires de 1950 à aujourd'hui sur la petite ville de Nipigon. Un homme à vélo arrête nous parler et en 30 minutes, il a le temps de nous raconter un chapitre complet de l'histoire de son enfance et du village.
Les gens sont fiers de leur petit coin de paradis situé sur la pointe la plus au nord du lac Supérieur.

Nice to wake up under a roof once in a while. We got up a little later this morning but the day should be good, we planed to get to Nipigon and take a rest day tomorrow. It's nice to be riding not to far from lake superior and the sceneries are different from what we got for the past week or so. The road is hilly and twisty and the lack of shoulder make the ride pretty interesting at time. We got use to this since we got to Ontario after leaving the 4 lane hwy behind us in Manitoba.
We got to Nipigon by about 3:45 and everybody is very welcoming, I talked to a guy from the municipality regarding the municipal campground at the marina and right the way, he welcomed us to stay there even if it's not opened yet. He explained to me how to purged the water in the lines since they pumped antifreeze in the pipes for the winter and apologized that the showers are not operational yet. Once at the marina, we met Richard and got a good conversation with him and as the conversation went on, we realized that Richard was in fact the Mayer of this town and got to stay for free.
In the evening, a really chatty man stopped by and gave us a history lesson about the area. He moved here as a kid in 1950 and seemed to remember every minutes of the history of the town. Jim was very funny and invited us to watch is band play Friday night at the Legion a local pub.
If you happen to drive or bike in the area, stop in Nipigon for a day. The people are great!
